Description: This tutorial will provide step by step instructions on how to create a message in the "Messenger" system.

Compose a Message

To compose a PM/Conversation you have a few of options:

Option One
  • Go to "My Messenger"
    • Click on down arrow beside display name at top right
    • Click on My Messenger from drop down menu
  • Messenger form opens
    • Start to type recipients display name and a list with like names will appear ... you can choose the recipient from list or keep typing until only the recipient you want is available
    • Other recipients --- you can add up to 10 additional recipients on your message
    • Send to others as
      • Invitation -- means all recipients will take part in one single conversation -- like a forum format (very handy for group conversations)
      • Copy -- each recipient receives a separate copy
    • Message Subject -- Not mandatory but a little description is helpful
    • Message Body -- similar to a forum post with smilies, font, attachments etc ..
  • When completed your options are:
    • Send Message -- sends immediately
    • Preview Message -- Displays your message on your screen but doesn't send
    • Save Send Later -- will save in your draft folder (on left) so you can send later and edit if you choose ...
Option Two
  • Click on Display Name
  • Profile opens
  • Click on Send Me a Message
  • Small popup opens to send that member a PM -- If you want to send detailed message to a number of recipients you will need to use Option One
Option Three
  • When reading a post look to the left where the member's information is located
  • Click on little envelope icon - PM Member
  • Little pop up opens and you can send a quick PM .. if you want a little more detail and additional recipients you will need to use Option One
Auto - Tracking

Once your message has been sent a user can determine if it has been read by clicking on the PM/conversation and viewing the participants on the left hand side
