TEFLON – It’s Everywhere

This is a list compiled by the membership to inform all new “parronts” about the widespread use of “Teflon” (Polytetraflouethylene) in everyday items:? (this list is added too frequently, so check back often.)

Heat lamps
Sole plates on irons
Ironing board covers
Burners on stove tops
Drip pans for burners
Broiler pans
Griddles
Many cooking utensils
Woks
Waffle irons
Deep fryers
Crock pots
Hot air popcorn poppers
Coffee makers
Bread makers
Non-stick rolling pins
Candy molds
Corkscrews
Never-stick stainless steel
Pots and pans
Roasters
Gingerbread molds
Pizza pans
Tortilla presses
Crepe makers
Toaster ovens less than 20 years old
Electric kettles (inside)
Hand-held hairdryers
Dark, metal bakeware - including cookie sheets
Self-cleaning ovens
Cooking bags
... in fact, anything advertised as being "non-stick"
Why we are so concerned.....
To my horror and revulsion, I read today exactly what happens to birds that
are poisoned by fumes given off by heated non-stick items:
"Their little aviator lungs hemorrhage, becoming filled with fluid and
causing them to drown."
